The community of Kharian Cantt, Pakistan used Bacta-Pur® directly in their homes to eliminate long standing problems of organic build-up, scum and foul odors from their open sewer system.  International Water Associates – Pakistan reports that the residents are joyous about the reduction of foul odors in their homes and neighborhoods.

The DHA EME Sector in Lahore closed sewers send untreated sewage to ponds where the water, was thick, black and reeking of ammonia and other noxious odors.  Local officials estimated the foul odor as 100 on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the worst.  International Water Associates – Pakistan treated the sewerage, with Bacta Pur® starting at the furthest point upstream.  After only one week the water went from black to brown and odors were cut in half.  After two weeks the water became almost transparent and odors were negligible.
